Unpopular opinion: hitting 200 bad movies watched in two years made me realize most so called gems are just boring
I started a spreadsheet when my buddy Marcus moved to Portland and left me his DVD pile, and last Saturday the counter hit 200 movies, with Manos, The Room, and Troll 2 all in the first 50. Somewhere around film 150 I stopped caring about famous flops like Battlefield Earth and started hunting $1 bin junk nobody has heard of, because the try hard stuff just makes me sleepy. What is the most unknown terrible movie you would put in front of a crowd, because my list is running dry and I need new trash.
Manos being in your first 50 is wild, most people tap out after one viewing. My thing lately has been hunting down shot on video junk from the 80s and 90s, stuff like Things and Sledgehammer, because the cheap tape look weeds out anyone who isn't serious. Winterbeast is a good one too, the stop motion monsters show up out of nowhere and the plot just evaporates. There's a whole world of regional no budget stuff that never got a fancy bad movie night, and honestly that's where the real gold is.
