My oven door popped open at 6:40am and I caught a tray of croissants with my elbow
So I was at my shop in Boise on a Tuesday, doing the usual 5am bake, and my spring latch on the deck oven had been loose for about a week. I kept telling myself I'd tighten it after the morning rush. Big mistake. At 6:40 I pulled the bottom rack out to rotate the croissants and the whole door swung wide on its own, so I panicked and tried to catch the tray with my forearm and my elbow at the same time, which of course sent eight croissants sliding toward the gap. I got the tray back on the rack but two of them dropped right onto the open door and one landed butter side down on my shoe. My counter guy looked up from the register and just said 'you good?' while I stood there with dough on my sock. I finished the bake, wiped the door down, and finally dug out a screwdriver to fix the latch during a lull. Nothing burned and nobody saw the two casualties, so I sold the rest and told no one. Any of you had a latch or hinge die mid shift, and did you rig it or shut down till you could get the part?
