Rant: My sister keeps opening the oven to check on her cake every 5 minutes

She did it 7 times last Sunday and wondered why it sunk in the middle. Has anyone else had to fight a relative over oven peek rules?

Hold up, I gotta play the other side of this. Maybe she's just really excited about that cake, you know? Baking is all about timing and sometimes people get a little overeager. I've definitely opened the oven more times than I should have when I'm trying something new because I'm nervous it's gonna burn. Maybe you could offer to set a timer next time so she can relax instead of getting mad about it. Just a thought, but her peeking might have been her way of trying to make sure it turned out perfect.

Oh man, I've totally been there. What worked for me was getting a little kitchen timer with a loud beep and sticking it right on the counter so they can hear it go off from anywhere. That way she knows exactly when to check it without hovering, and you both get a better result.
