Showerthought: Straight razor shaves used to take me 45 minutes, now 15

When I first started doing straight razor shaves on clients, I was so careful and slow. I'd watch every blade angle, re-lather twice, and still come out with patches I missed. Took me a solid 45 minutes per head, and that was after two years of cutting with clippers. About 6 months ago I finally switched my grip and stance, which let me see the blade better without hunching. Now I can do a full head shave in 15 minutes flat, and the finish is smoother than when I took the long route. What changed was learning to trust the blade weight and moving my feet instead of twisting my wrist. Has anyone else found that slowing down to learn the basics actually speeds you up later, or are you still stuck in the slow zone?

Clients usually don't care if it takes longer.
