Vent: spent 3 hours on a fade that should have taken 20 minutes
Had a walk in at my shop in Denver last week who wanted a skin fade with a hard part. My clippers kept snagging because I forgot to oil them that morning and I didn't figure it out until the third pass. Ended up redoing the whole left side twice and the guy was super cool about it but I felt like an idiot. Do you all oil your clippers before every cut or just when they start acting up?
Man I FELT this in my soul. I did the same thing last month, except my blade was dull and I didn't catch it until I was halfway up a guy's head on a number 1. The clippers were pulling instead of cutting so I kept going over the same spots and made it patchy as hell. Had to drop down to a zero and basically start the fade over from scratch. The worst part is the client kept saying it looked fine but I KNEW it didn't. Now I keep a little bottle of oil right on my station and hit the blades every single morning before my first cut. Takes ten seconds and saves me a whole lot of shame.
