A $2 goodwill bread machine taught me something wild about my electric bill

Picked up a beat-up bread machine at goodwill for $2 last month, mostly for a laugh. Turns out it uses about the same wattage as my old toaster oven, which I was running daily for toast anyway. That little fact from the manual made me swap my morning routine, and now I bake a loaf every other day for less than the store bread I was buying. Has anyone else found a kitchen gadget that secretly pays for itself in a weird way?
