Found a weird vintage radio at Goodwill for $5 that actually still works

I was digging through the electronics bin at my local Goodwill last Saturday and saw this old 1970s clock radio with a fake wood grain case. It was $4.99 and I figured it'd be a bust but grabbed it anyway. Plugged it in at home and the thing actually picked up a local AM station clear as day, no crackling or anything. The clock part is busted though and I can't figure out how to get the back off to check the wiring. Has anyone else found a thrift store radio or electronics that surprisingly worked right out of the box?

Idk it's wild how old stuff just works better sometimes.

Man, tell me about it, @faithb76. I've got this old truck from the 90s that still runs better than half the new ones I see on the lot today. People act like just because it's old it's junk, but half the time that old stuff was built to last more than a couple years. New stuff just feels like it's made to break down right after the warranty runs out. Like my buddy bought a brand new pressure washer last month and it started sputtering after like three uses. My old beat up one just keeps chugging along no matter what I throw at it. I don't know, maybe they just don't make em like they used to.
