TIL shipping one container across the ocean pollutes as much as 50 cars driving for a year

That robert64 mentioned LNG is interesting, but heres something I dug into a few months back - most shipping companies actually run their engines on heavy fuel oil even when they say theyre going green, because switching to cleaner fuels drops their cargo capacity by like 10 percent. Take that stat with a grain of salt though, it was from a pretty niche maritime blog.

Hot take: I visited a board game cafe in Montreal and the game selection was TERRIBLE

Totally feel you on this. Catan and Ticket to Ride are like the basic white bread of board games. Most cafes just chase the casual crowd because that's where the money is. It's a bummer for people who actually want to try something new. Hope you find a spot with a more adventurous owner someday.

Just heard a guy say broom finish is dead for driveways

Whoa hold on, I gotta respectfully disagree with that one. I've had my stamped concrete driveway for about five years now in Ohio weather, and it's holding up way better than I expected. The key is making sure the concrete is poured thick enough and the base is prepped right, not skimping on that prep work. Yeah, overlay can be a gamble if it's too thin, but a full stamped pour with proper control joints handles our freeze-thaw cycles just fine. The extra cost up front saves me from having to seal plain concrete every year and mess with cracks from salt and snow. I think it's more about the installer's skill than the method itself, you know?
