Heads up: Dollar Tree hand soap turned my bathroom sink drain green in 3 weeks
I mean this is gross but I had to say something. Bought 4 bottles of that $1.25 lemon hand soap at the Dollar Tree on Western Ave back in early March and used it at my bathroom sink every day. About 3 weeks in I noticed the drain was draining slow, pulled the stopper out and the whole pop up rod and the inside of the drain were coated in this green slime film that smelled like old pennies. Looked it up and cheap soaps sometimes have stuff in them that reacts with the metal or just feeds bacteria because of the water content. I swapped to a $3 bar soap from Aldi and scrubbed the drain with baking soda and the green stuff stopped coming back after about a week. Anyone else run into a cheap soap doing this or do I just have weird pipes?
