The thrift store jackpot week that made me believe in luck again

Last month I had this ONE week where everything just clicked at the bargain bins. On Tuesday I walked into a Salvation Army in Wichita and found a practically brand-new KitchenAid stand mixer for $35. The lady at the counter said it had been there for maybe 2 hours and someone had literally just put it out. Then on Thursday I hit up a different Goodwill and scored a set of 4 vintage Pyrex bowls with the lids for $12 total. I could barely sleep that night I was so hyped. But then the next Saturday I found an old wooden toolbox filled with actual Snap-On wrenches for $20. That never happens to me, usually I find broken lamps and stained Tupperware. Has anyone else had a week where the thrift gods just smiled on you like that?

Man that's wild... but here's the thing nobody's talking about - maybe it's not just luck, maybe it's timing and frequency too. Like I bet you hit those stores at weird hours and different days than most people. Most folks only go on Saturday mornings when everything's been picked over. If you're going on a random Tuesday afternoon that's when the fresh stuff just hit the floor. Also think about how many people walk past that toolbox because it looks dirty and old without even opening the drawers. You probably saw right through the grime to the Snap-On stamp.

Oh man, that's insane! Last spring I had one of those weeks and I still think about it. Found a vintage 1950s Sunbeam stand mixer at an estate sale for $10. It even had all the attachments still in the original box. Then two days later I stumbled on a whole set of Fiestaware plates, eight of them, for like $8 at a thrift store in Tulsa. I was literally shaking when I paid. It's like the universe just decides to bless you every once in a while, right? Makes you wonder how many people walked right past that mixer before you spotted it.
