Update: dollar store spatula beat my $18 kitchen store one for scraping jars
Went to the Dollar Tree on Carson St about 3 weeks ago and grabbed one of those flimsy white spatulas just because it was a buck. Tried it side by side with the $18 silicone one from the kitchen store and the cheap one got way more peanut butter out of the jar and actually fit under the rim. The fancy one is too thick so it just smears stuff around and the handle flexes weird. Now the $18 one sits in the drawer and the dollar one lives on the counter. Anyone else find that the cheap version of a thing just works better sometimes?
Bought a $2 plastic scraper from Walmart for my cast iron pan and it does a better job than the $12 metal one I got at a fancy cooking store. The metal one scratches everything and has this sharp edge that digs in too deep. The cheap plastic one has a soft curve that just glides right under the grease and food bits without wrecking the seasoning. Been using it every single day for like 6 months now and it still looks brand new. Sometimes paying more just means you get a heavier thing that doesn't actually work as good.
