Bought a $60 floor pump last fall and it still won't seat my tire bead, what am I doing wrong
Everyone in my local bike group says a good floor pump is the one tool that fixes every tire problem, so I grabbed a $60 one from the shop on Grand Ave and figured I'd be done in five minutes. Three weeks and four tries later, I still can't get my rear tire to pop onto the rim without dragging it to the co-op for their compressor. Is there some trick with soapy water or bouncing the wheel that people just assume everyone knows?
Did you try setting the bead with a tube first? That's what finally worked for me after fighting my tubeless setup for weeks. Put a tube in, pump it up until it pops, then break one side and pull the tube out real slow.
