inWasted $200 on a lawn irrigation kickstarter that never shipped
Used to think Kickstarter was a safe bet for cool new home stuff because bigger projects seemed more legit. Then my smart thermostat campaign folded after taking everyone's money with the same excuse, and I realized there's zero protection for backers once they cash out. Never putting more than $50 into these again, learned that lesson the hard way.

inMy old Palm Pilot vs that new Notes app on my phone
The Graffiti handwriting recognition on my Palm Pilot from 2002 actually made me a better speller. I had to learn those little strokes for each letter, and it forced me to slow down and think about what I was writing instead of tapping away mindlessly. So it wasn't just faster in terms of unlocking, it was faster mentally because I was more present with the task. Plus, the battery life on that thing lasted weeks compared to my phone dying by 5pm. I think we traded mindfulness for convenience and didn't really notice until we held the old stuff again.

inA coffee shop in Spokane made me stop adding sugar to my pour-over
Oh totally, I've had some incredible Yirgacheffe from a little shop near my place that sources directly from Ethiopia... it's honestly my favorite morning brew.

inAlways bought canned tomatoes until a buddy showed me you can freeze whole ones from the farmers market for $1 a pound
@jason328 nailed it - the mush factor is real but freezing saves time for sure.

inTIL my old grocery list system was a total mess
Ngl, my partner did the same thing to me and I was lowkey mad at first but it actually works. Now I just mentally walk through the store layout when I write a list.
