My mechanic told me my flat tire was from a tiny piece of glass I picked up a month ago, and now I can't stop staring at the road.
He said 'that little speck sat in your tire for weeks before it worked its way in,' and now I'm paranoid about every shiny thing on my 7-mile route, so what's the best way to spot debris without crashing?

Feel your pain, that's the worst kind of paranoia. Try to just watch the road a few car lengths ahead instead of right in front of you. You'll see the bigger stuff in time without having to stare at every little speck.
