Rain pants changed my opinion after one 40 mph gust

I used to think rain pants were a scam for fair weather folks, but last Tuesday a storm hit me mid-commute on I-90 and the wind chill made my soaked jeans feel like ice. Now I keep a cheap pair in my pannier, anyone else refuse to pack them until a brutal ride proved you wrong?

Felt that hard. I was riding in a downpour a few months ago and thought I was fine in my work pants, but by the time I hit the last mile my legs were shaking so bad I could barely pedal. Now I throw a pair of those packable frogg toggs in my bag and I don't even think about it. It's funny how one bad ride just flips a switch in your brain. I used to judge people with them too, now I'm like, yeah, you get it. Being cold and wet on the bike just ruins your whole day.
