Rode 2 years with my seat too low, knee pain solved in one ride
Been commuting 12 miles round trip in Austin for two years and just figured out my saddle was way too low from watching a guy pass me effortlessly. I raised it 2 inches and the knee ache I blamed on age disappeared by the next morning. Anyone else had a simple fit fix that took them way too long to catch?
Check your fore/aft too while you're at it. If your saddle was 2 inches low you probably had it slammed back to make up for the reach, which puts your knee way in front of the pedal. Move the saddle forward or back a bit and see if the ache stays gone on longer rides. Also measure your saddle height from the center of the crank to the top of the saddle, not from the ground, so you can actually repeat it. What number did you land on?
