The $80 fender upgrade that finally made rainy commutes bearable

I finally cracked and bought proper full coverage fenders for my commuter after slipping on wet leaves for the third time in a month. The cheap clip-on ones I had before just threw water all over my back and shoes, and I was showing up to work looking like a drowned rat every time it drizzled. Spent $80 on a set with mud flaps and longer tail coverage, and honestly it's the best money I've put into the bike since the rack. First rainy ride this morning, my pants stayed dry and my shoes only got a little spray from the front wheel. It's not fancy or flashy, but it made the difference between dreading bad weather and actually not caring about a light shower. Anyone else have a cheap upgrade that changed their whole daily ride? Or do you just embrace the wet look and bring a change of clothes?
