Vent: Speed watching is ruining how people actually enjoy shows
My brother in Tampa told me he finished the entire first season of The Bear on 1.5x speed in one day, and he couldn't name a single dish they cooked. So when he asked me for another show to binge, I said no, because you didn't really watch the first one. Binging isn't a race, it's about sitting in the story, and I told him that straight. Does anyone else think the fast forward button is doing more harm than good to how we watch stuff?
Couldn't name a single dish they cooked" hit me hard because I used to be that guy. I thought speeding stuff up meant I could watch more shows and get through my list faster, so I did it for like a year straight. Then I rewatched one of those shows at normal speed and realized I had missed half the jokes, the looks between characters, all the stuff that makes it good. Now I cant go back and it bugs me that I wasted a whole first watch on 1.5x. Your brother basically fast forwarded through the meal and then wondered why he was still hungry.
