My anvil shifted mid-strike and nearly took off my toe in Tulsa
I was out in my garage shop last Tuesday working on a rail spike knife, and the anvil wasn't strapped down since I'd just moved it to a new stump. One hard hit at the wrong angle and the whole thing tipped forward, slammed onto my boot, and left a dent in the toe cap that saved my foot. Took me 20 minutes to reset it properly with chains and lag bolts, but now I double-check the setup every single time before I start swinging. Anyone else ever had a tool move on them mid-project and change how they secure their workspace?
Chains and lag bolts are solid but overkill if you ask me, a good steel plate underneath and some rubber matting keeps mine planted without all that hassle. Losing a toe would've been brutal though, glad the boot took the hit.
