Watched a guy at the Rocky Mountain forge quench in motor oil and it hit me that my water tub was all wrong
I had been dunking every 1084 blade straight into cold water for 6 months and wondering why half of them pinged and cracked on me. Switching to warm canola oil got my quench cracks down from about 4 out of 10 blades to almost none, so what are you all quenching in?
