Vic's trick works because of the film build, not the sanding. Silver metallic lays down thinner than you think, so when you feather 6 inches past the blend you're actually cutting into the clear and the base at different rates. Keep it inside 2 inches and the texture stays even because you're only knocking down the edge, not reshaping the whole panel. Most guys never figure that out because nobody explains why tight works, they just tell you to do it.

The sink height thing got me too. Once you see someone blocked from basic stuff like washing their hands, you can't unsee it.
