A 30 year hand in Toledo bet me a coffee my tube roller was set too tight
A guy named Rick with about 30 years in the trade stopped at my bench in Toledo a few weeks back and told me my rolls were squeezing the tube wall too hard, which was why I kept chasing cracks on the seal welds. I figured he was just being picky till I backed the pressure off by half a turn and ran 12 test pieces with zero failures. Now I roll every heat exchanger tube that way and my rework is down to basically nothing. Anybody else had an old timer call out something on your setup that you swore was fine?
