Rant: that $80 flux core wire spool I bought was a total bust
Picked up a spool of that cheap flux core wire last month from a supply house in Tacoma, thought I was saving a few bucks on a big tank job. Ran it on my Miller 211 and the splatter was unreal, like a firework show on every pass. Had to grind twice as much as normal and the porosity showed up in places I'd already cleaned. Swapped back to my usual brand this week and the welds laid down smooth as butter. Anyone else get burned by off-brand wire that seemed like a deal at the time?

Isn't it possible your machine settings were just off and the wire took the blame?
