Spent $22 on a used copy of our pick and now I can't stop writing in books
I grabbed a beat up paperback of our club pick for $22 at a shop in Portland last month because the library wait was 9 weeks. Normally I never write in books, but this one was already full of notes from the last owner, so I started adding my own in the margins. Turns out having my thoughts right there on the page made the meeting way easier, and I actually quoted a line I'd flagged instead of flipping through trying to find it. Two people asked why I looked so ready and I felt a little guilty about it. Now the group is split on whether marking up a book is fine or basically a crime. Do you write in your club books or is that a hard no for you?
