Watching my kid fold paper airplanes made me rethink my board scoring.
He was creasing each fold with his thumbnail, not a bone folder. I realized I'd been pressing way too hard, leaving marks on the paper. Anyone have a gentler technique for scoring cover boards?

Oh man, that's a solid point. I switched to using the back of a butter knife for scoring. It's got a smooth, rounded edge that won't cut the paper, but still gives you a clean crease. You barely need any pressure at all, just guide it along the ruler. It made a huge difference on my last project where I was working with some thinner book cloth.

That butter knife trick from @jordant69 is genius, right? I use a dull letter opener for the same thing.
