Saw a crew laying brick sideways on a retaining wall in Pittsburgh, anyone do that?
I was driving through the strip district last Tuesday and watched a crew stacking brick flat instead of on edge for a curved retaining wall. Looked like they were saving time but I wonder about the strength. My foreman always says brick on edge for anything over 3 ft tall. That wall had to be 5 ft. Anyone tried this method or seen it fail? I'm asking cause I got a similar job next month and the homeowner wants that look.
