Just figured out why my rice was always mushy after 2 years of cooking it
I kept making rice that turned into paste and thought my pot was just bad. Turns out I was rinsing it way too much and then not letting it steam off the heat for 10 minutes after. Tried it right last night with a cheap bag of store brand rice ($1.50) and it came out perfect for the first time. Anyone else spend way too long fixing a simple thing?

Spent six months burning toast before I realized I had my toaster set to "dark" instead of "medium." Felt like an idiot but at least breakfast got good eventually.

Felt like an idiot but at least breakfast got good eventually" is basically the story of how I learned to cook eggs. I spent a whole year making rubbery scrambled eggs because I was cooking them on high heat the whole time. Thought that's just how eggs were supposed to be, tough and dry. Then one day I watched a video that said low and slow is the secret, and now my eggs are actually fluffy. Makes you wonder what other stuff in life we're just doing wrong without knowing it, right?
