My sister's comment about dry beans saved me $40 a month
I used to buy canned beans for everything until my sister watched me cook and said why are you paying 5x for water weight. Switched to a $2 bag of pintos last month and now I soak them Sunday night and they last me all week. Anyone else made the switch and noticed their grocery bill drop way more than they expected?

The sodium angle gets overlooked too. A can of pintos has like 400mg of sodium per half cup, dry beans have almost none once you rinse them after soaking. My blood pressure meds got adjusted last year and my doctor told me to cut salt, that was the real win for me. Plus the cooking liquid from dry beans makes a better broth for soups than the canned stuff, so I stopped buying stock cubes as well.
