Spent $75 on meal kit boxes to save time, ended up wasting half of it

I figured those meal kit boxes would cut my grocery trips and food waste, so I ordered a week's worth for two people. Turns out the portions were tiny, the produce arrived bruised, and I still needed to buy extra staples like oil and rice anyway. After three boxes I added up the cost per meal and it was nearly double what I'd spend shopping at Aldi. Has anyone else tried these and found a way to make them actually worth the money, or is it always a trap?
