That one cashier at Aldi changed how I meal plan forever
Last Tuesday I was at the Aldi on 5th and I had a cart full of frozen pizzas and ramen because I was just so tired of thinking about food. This older cashier, probably 60, looked at my stuff and just said 'honey, you're paying twice for water and packaging.' She then told me she feeds her family of 4 on $80 a week by buying dry beans, whole chicken, and whatever produce is marked down that morning. She literally walked me through her list while scanning the person behind me. I stood there in the checkout line for like 5 extra minutes just nodding along. Now I've been doing her trick of checking the reduced rack first and honestly my grocery bill dropped from $120 to $90 this week alone. Has anyone else gotten random advice from a store worker that just clicked? What's your weirdest budget tip from a stranger?
