The 89 cent pasta trick that shut my mouth for good

I spent years buying the fancy 3 dollar pasta thinking cheap stuff was trash. Then my aunt in Pittsburgh made Sunday dinner with the store brand and honestly I could not tell the difference in the sauce. She said it's all about the water and salt, not the box. Anyone else finally admit cheap pasta works fine or am I just eating it wrong?
