Pro tip: Tuesday afternoons at the Denver airport saved me $60 on lunch
I had a layover in Denver last Tuesday and decided to walk to the train station instead of eating inside the terminal. There's a little market a block from the transit center that sells sandwiches for $8 instead of $15 at the airport food court. I grabbed a turkey wrap and a bag of chips and sat on a bench near the light rail tracks. Watched planes take off while I ate, which was way better than the crowded food court. On top of that, the wrap was fresher than anything I've had at airport chains. Has anyone else found cheap eats near other major airports that are still close enough to walk?

Man that Denver train station move is smart. Our airport in Phoenix has a similar trick with the 44th Street light rail stop, there's a food truck that parks by the station entrance on weekdays. Got a carne asada burrito there for like $9 that was way better than anything in Terminal 4. The truck guy even has a little boom box playing oldies, felt more like a block party than airport food.

Watched planes take off while I ate" sounds way better than any airport food court experience I've had. You know what nobody talks about though... the noise cancelling factor of being outside near the tracks. That wrap probably tasted better just because you weren't hearing flight announcements every 30 seconds.
