Warning: dropped $65 on a rail pass in Italy and used it twice
I grabbed a 3 day regional rail pass in Italy for $65 thinking I would hop between towns every single day. Turns out two of those days I just walked around the same city and the pass sat in my pocket while I paid cash for buses anyway. Did anyone here actually do the math before buying a pass, or do we all just buy them hoping to feel like a local?
Walk me through what made you think you'd move towns every day in the first place. Was it a real plan with dates and stops, or more of a vague idea that you'd figure it out once you got there? Because that's where most of these pass mistakes happen, not at the ticket counter but way before, when the trip is still just a feeling. Also did you look up how much the single rides would've cost for the towns you actually went to, or did you only do the math after the fact like most of us?
