I finally got my credit card interest under control after 8 months of trying

I had a card with a $3,500 balance that I was just paying the minimum on for years. It felt like I was stuck. I started putting an extra $100 a month toward it last fall, and just paid it off last week. Has anyone else found a good way to stay motivated on a long payoff plan like that?

Honestly, I had the opposite experience. Just adding a set amount felt like watching paint dry. What worked for me was throwing any extra cash at it, like my whole tax refund or side hustle money. Seeing the balance drop in big chunks kept me way more fired up.

Yeah, @allen.anthony gets it. Those big hits are way more fun than a slow drip.

Putting that extra $100 a month is the real trick.
