Vent: my "fun money" envelope caused a $60 overdraft last Tuesday

I was so proud of my cash-only system for eating out, but forgot the rent auto-pay hits the same day, so now I'm questioning if separate envelopes for everything is really the win everyone says it is, has anyone else had a system backfire like this?
