Vent: Spent $47 on meal prep containers last month after wasting $60 a week on takeout for two years straight

Used to just grab fast food every night because I told myself I didn't have time to cook, but after I sat down and added up the receipts from Q1 this year I switched to Sundays prepping 5 lunches at once with a cheap plastic set from Target. Has anyone else found that the upfront cost of containers or gear actually paid off way faster than they expected?

The Target containers are a solid starting point. Those plastic ones with the snap on lids held up for me about eight months before I started seeing cracks, but by then I had already saved way more than the $12 I spent on the set. The trick is to not overthink the gear and just get started. Once you see the money piling up in your account from not buying $12 lunch combos everyday, that upfront cost feels like nothing.

My buddy Mark bought the same set after I told him about mine and his lids started cracking around month six. He still says it was the best twelve bucks he ever spent because he stopped grabbing fast food breakfast on the way to work.
