Heard a kid ask his dad what 'butcher paper' was at the hardware store

I was picking up a new roll of 18-inch paper yesterday when a little boy pointed at it and asked his dad. The dad just said 'it's for wrapping stuff' and moved on. It hit me that a lot of people don't know where the name even comes from anymore. My grandpa used to tell me about using the real stuff from the shop for everything, from packing tools to lining shelves. What's the most unusual thing you've used butcher paper for outside the shop?

Oh man, a buddy of mine used it to wrap a leaky pipe in his basement for a week.

Always thought that was dumb, but nora_coleman69's cousin proves me wrong.
