Wasted $220 on a band saw blade that was too thin for my work

Bought a 1/4 inch blade for my 14 inch saw thinking it'd handle pork necks fine, but it twisted on the second cut and ruined the blade plus a rib section. Anyone else stick to 3/8 as a minimum for bone work, or is there a trick to make thin blades hold up?

Did you check the tension before you started? A 1/4 inch blade can work on pork necks, but it needs way more tension than most folks run on a 14 inch saw. If the blade twists, it's usually not just the width, it's also the teeth per inch. A 1/4 with 6 TPI will grab and twist, but a 10 TPI with slower feed might track straight. Still, I agree 3/8 is the safe floor for bone, that thin blade just doesn't have the body to push through. How fast were you running the saw?
