Warning: I stopped trusting the 5 star reviews after what I saw at a Best Buy in Reno
I was standing in the tablet aisle at the Best Buy on South Virginia Street in Reno back in March, and this guy next to me pulls out his phone and starts tapping away while staring at the display model right in front of him. Curiosity got me and I peeked over, and he was leaving a 5 star review for a tablet he had not even bought yet, just because the screen looked nice in the store lighting. Then he walked over to the returns desk with a different tablet and swapped it out, no big deal. That hit me hard because for years I sorted by 4 stars and up and felt good about my picks, and now I think a big chunk of those glowing reviews come from people who never actually lived with the thing. Same trip I saw a lady leave 1 star for a blender because the store was out of her color. So now I hunt for reviews that mention a timeframe longer than a week and actual problems, even the boring ones about the charging port getting loose after 8 months. Anyone else switch up how they read reviews after seeing something dumb like that in person?
