Spray booth filter clogged mid shoot and I almost lost a $2,400 cabinet job
I was finishing a set of shaker doors for a kitchen remodel in Boise last month, had them sprayed with conversion varnish and sitting pretty. Went to do the second coat and noticed the finish coming out with little bumps and trash all over it. Took me a second to figure out my booth filter was completely clogged, must have been that way for a couple days. The airflow was so bad the overspray was just hanging in the air and landing back on the wet doors. I had to stop right there, pulled all four doors out, and let them cure so I could sand the junk out. Cost me a full weekend of rework and about $80 in sandpaper and extra finish. Now I check the filter with a flashlight before every single shoot, takes 10 seconds. What are you all using for booth filters and how often are you swapping them?
