Took me 8 years to realize I was coiling coax the wrong way

Honestly, I used to just loop cable over my arm when pulling runs, ended up with twists every time. Last spring at a job in Tacoma, a senior guy showed me the over-under method on a 500 foot spool of RG6. Night and day, no more kinks or signal issues. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized you'd been doing a basic thing wrong for years?

Ugh, that hits home! My buddy in Spokane did the same thing for years and only figured it out when his boss made him redo an entire apartment complex because of signal loss.

...and the worst part is I had been doing it wrong for so long that my coworkers probably thought I was just skipping steps. I used to just grab the cable and pull it through the walls any old way, thinking "it's just coax, what's the big deal." Then I spent a whole Saturday trying to fix a customer's TV signal that kept dropping out. Turned out my kinked runs were the problem. Now I spend like an extra 30 seconds on every pull to make sure it's right.
