Vent: dropped $340 on a tone and probe kit I used twice

Bought a fancy tone generator and amplifier probe set because a guy at the supply house in Reno swore it would save me on every commercial job. Turns out 90% of my tracing work is still just a toner on one end and my ears on the other, and the probe picks up so much noise in a crowded rack that it is basically useless. What tool did you buy that sounded great in the aisle but just sits in the van?
