That collector who brought in a 1954 Leica with a bent lens mount
Guy drove three hours from Portland to my shop with a IIIf that had a lens mount bent at least 2mm off true. Said he'd been sitting on it for six months afraid to touch it himself. Anyone else get customers who treat their gear like it's made of glass?

Ngl that is wild. A 2mm bend on a lens mount is basically a death sentence for proper focusing unless you have a machinist friend or a lot of patience. I had a guy bring in a M3 with a dented top plate once and he just wanted me to "buff it out" like it was a scratched car. People really do act like old Leicas are made of spun sugar or something.
