The lens I fixed for 3 hours slipped right back out

Last Tuesday a beat-up 50mm came in, helicoid grease was dried solid. I cleaned it, regreased, got it smooth, then the aperture blades stuck again 20 minutes later. Tore it down twice more before I saw the bent actuation pin. Has anyone else had a simple fix turn into a full rebuild like that?
