Tried using isopropyl alcohol to clean a shutter and got a bad surprise
I had a Pentax Spotmatic with a sticky shutter in the shop last Tuesday. Everyone online says to use lighter fluid or naphtha for stubborn gunk, but I grabbed 99% isopropyl because it was right there. It cleaned the blades fine but it left a white residue after it dried that took three more rounds to fully remove. Lesson learned: stick to the real cleaning solvents even if they smell worse. Has anyone else had alcohol mess up a shutter on a vintage camera?

91% is what i usually see recommended, not 99%. that extra pure stuff dries way too fast and leaves that weird film behind. lighter fluid's the move for sticky shutters, smells bad but works first time.
