Am I the only one who thinks a $45 headlamp is worth more than a $300 tent?

I spent $45 on a Petzl Actik Core before a trip to Shenandoah in April and it lit up camp, the trail, and my tent while my buddy fumbled with his phone flashlight, so tell me why people brag about tents but cheap out on the one thing that keeps them from walking off a ledge.
