Cleaned my old camp stove for the first time in 5 years and the weight change blew my mind

I finally got around to cleaning my basic two-burner propane stove that I've used for ages. After scraping off all the old grease and gunk from the grates and drip tray, I weighed it on my kitchen scale. It was a full 1.2 pounds lighter than before I started. I never thought built-up crud could add that much heft to a piece of gear I carry on every trip. Has anyone else had a simple clean-up make a real difference in pack weight?

That 1.2 pound drop is wild. Did you weigh the scraped-off gunk itself, or was that just the before-and-after difference on the scale? I'm curious if it was mostly old food or if a lot of it was carbon buildup from the burners.

Honestly, I used to think that stuff was mostly just old grease. Seeing that number on the scale convinced me it's way more carbon and hardened gunk than anything else. It's a gross amount of buildup.
