Lighter fluid is not the enemy, and I'm tired of pretending it is
Last month at a campsite outside Flagstaff, a guy next to me spent 20 minutes with a ferro rod trying to light damp kindling while his kids sat there hungry, and my $4 bottle of charcoal lighter fluid had my fire going in about 90 seconds. Look, I get the bushcraft appeal of the sparky stuff, but on a wet night after a 6 hour drive I just want hot food and dry socks. Take this with a grain of salt since it's one guy's view, but does anyone actually enjoy fiddling with a ferro rod in bad weather, or is it just a thing we do for the photo?
