Closing day finally landed after 11 weeks of delays

We were supposed to take possession of our fixer upper in Surrey back in March, then the bank kept asking for more paperwork and the sellers lawyer went quiet for 3 weeks straight. Last Thursday at 2 PM we got the keys, walked in to a basement that smelled like old carpet and damp drywall, but honestly I didn't care. First thing I did was test every outlet with a plug tester and 2 of them in the kitchen are dead, so that's next weekends project. Has anyone else had a closing drag on that long for no real reason, or is it just the Vancouver area market right now?
