Had a curb side chat with a guy in Vancouver who told me his secret route for avoiding bike traffic on the 99
He said he uses a set of side streets off Marine Drive that cut 12 minutes off his commute without hitting a single light, and I've been testing it for two weeks now has anyone else found a hidden shortcut like that in their city?

Nah, I gotta disagree here - hiding from traffic on side streets usually just dumps you right back into the same mess with more stop signs and surprise pedestrians. These "secret routes" always end up getting clogged once a few people post about them online, then you're right back to square one. Plus Marine Drive already moves pretty well for a main road, you're probably saving two minutes max once you factor in the slower speeds through neighborhoods.
